Videos "Have you heard?" on nanoparticles

A web serie dedicated to nanoscience to the largest public!

The aim of « Have you heard - Nanoparticles ? » is to introduce these tiny particles in few minutes in a simple, fun and pedagogical way.

Every question is a news topic. These 4 episodes, dedicated to nanoparticles have been made in collaboration with SERENADE's researchers. They explain what are nanoparticles, talk about potential risks and conception and finally explain why nanoparticles could be more and more present in our life.

There are 3 other seasons which respectively concern light, climate change and cosmology.  Every episode has been realised with the collaboration of an OSU Pythéas’ (Universe’s Science Observatory) researcher.

Each video is available in english and french.

Did I hear nano ?

Invisible, nanoparticles are present in everyday products: windows, medicines, paints, candies, sunscreens ... they have a size of the order of a nanometer and have incredible properties, "superpowers", but which ones? This film is the first of the series on nanotechnology, designed by researchers from the Laboratoire d’Excellence SERENADE.

Risky business

The technological success of nanoparticles accelerates their release in the environment, but what are the risks or effects? Evaluating risks is not as simple as it seems and is based on interdisciplinarity. This is one of the roles of the researchers of the Laboratory of Excellence SERENADE ! They reproduce ecosystems in the laboratory to simulate as realistically as possible the exposure of organisms to nanoparticles.

Designer's edge

How to design innovative and responsible nanoproducts? Researchers from the SERENADE Laboratory of Excellence suggest the safe by design approach! They develop safer products for humans and the environment (cement, paint, cosmetics, touch pad) while taking into account the benefit-risk aspect. For example, they are designing a new generation of sunscreen that minimizes impacts throughout its entire life cycle.

Tiny but mighty future !

To design a nanoproduct,  advanced technology, regulation, societal issues and respect for the environment should be take into account (among many others)! This film presents professional opportunities and training needs around nanotechnologies. Many sectors are concerned, from scientists to sales representatives and lawyers.
