Biography

Soryong Chae received his PhD from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2004 and he’s pioneered research in the application of nanotechnology for membrane fabrication, water treatment and energy. He earned his BS in Environmental Engineering from INHA University and his MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 1998 and 2000, respectively.

Since 2003, Chae has authored three book chapters and 50 journal articles in top interdisciplinary journals including ACS Nano, Environmental Science & Technology, Water Research, Bioresource Technology, and Journal of Membrane Science. Chae currently holds six patents and prior to joining UC CEAS, he was a lecturer in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Sydney.
