The second position will have an emphasis on environmental geohydrology and treatment. For either position, expertise could potentially include, but is not limited to, food systems engineering, novel fertilizers, food pollution/safety, nutrient recovery, environmental microbiology/biotechnology, nanoscale engineering applied to environmental treatment systems, novel separations engineering, mathematical modeling of processes or environmental systems, groundwater treatment and remediation, groundwater recharge and the development of sensors or ecotoxicology methods.
The Environmental Engineering program currently participates in five research centers, including the Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology, the Center for Environmental Security, the NSF Water and Environmental Technology Center and NSF-sponsored Engineering Research Centers in Nanoenabled Water Treatment and Bio-inspired and Bio-mediated Geotechnics. Environmental engineering faculty are housed in state-of-the-art facilities, particularly the Biodesign Institute and the Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building 4. Environmental engineering faculty also interact with the School of Sustainability, the Global Institute of Sustainability and the other five Fulton Schools, especially the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy.
