We would like to remind you of the symposium
“Effects of iron transformations on the biogeochemistry of trace elements” (http://icobte2017.ch/images/docs/Voegelin_web.pdf)
to be held at the International Conference on the Biogeochemistry of Trace Elements in Zurich/Switzerland from July 16-20 2017 (http://icobte2017.ch).
This symposium aims to bring together researchers interested in chemical and microbial formation and transformation of Fe phases in natural and engineered systems (e.g., soils, aquatic environments, groundwater remediation or water treatment), with special emphasis on the implications for co-transformed trace elements. Most welcome are contributions that link macroscopic observations in laboratory or field systems with molecular-level information on Fe and trace element speciation or geochemical modelling.

Addition of titanium dioxide (TiO2) (nano)particles into photocatalytic paints represents a promising alternative aiming to mineralize gaseous pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into innocuous species (H2O and CO2). In recent years, nanotechnologies have led to undeniable progress in any domains, such as electronics, materials and medicine. Despite the benefits of such a technology, a careful assessment of the potential risks for Human and Environmental health have to be studied. Assessing exposure and hazard to nanomaterials is a major challenge in the field of environmental sciences.
