Postdoctoral position in
Geochemistry of Mercury at Contaminated Sites
The candidate will be part of the collaboration research project: “Mercury isotope ratios as a tool to trace and quantify Hg species transformations in contaminated soils and aquifers” funded by the German (DFG) and Austrian (FWF) Science Foundations.
The project will be carried out at the Technische Universität Braunschweig (Germany) and the University of Vienna (Austria). The candidate’s host university will be TU Braunschweig, although analyses will be carried out in the laboratories of both sites, which both offer extensive laboratory facilities.
Qualifications
As a successful candidate you should have a PhD-degree and a strong academic background in Environmental Geochemistry or related fields such as Environmental- or Earth Sciences or Chemistry as well as a documented record of previous research accomplishments. Experience in methods of mercury analyses including the determination of mercury isotopes in environmental samples as well as in the field of reactive transport modeling is advantageous.
A broad interest in environmental sciences and the ability to work independently as well as in a team is essential. You should be fluent in oral and written English, since the host group is international in composition and publication aims.
Terms of appointment
We offer this position (TV-L EG13) for 2 years with a possible extension for another year. Start of the position will be April 1, 2018.
