POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER IN PHYSICO-CHEMICAL SEPARATION PROCESSES
The Center of Excellence in Produced Water Management (CEPWM) at the University of Wyoming is seeking an energetic and self-moti- vated post-doctoral researcher/research scientist to assist with the development of physico-chemical treatment processes for oil and gas produced waters. The anticipated start date for the position is August 1, 2017 and the review of applications will begin immediately. The position is a fully funded and benefited position in the CEPWM. Topics that will be covered in this work will include characterization of produced waters, the development/evaluation of process trains to facilitate resource (e.g., rare earth elements) recovery, nanomaterial synthesis/characterization for developing novel treatment systems, and nanocomposite membrane develop- ment. A Ph.D. in civil/environmental engineering, chemical engineering, material science or a closely related field is required. Academic and/or research backgrounds in physics, inorganic chemistry, nanomaterial synthesis/characterization, and/or organic chemistry are desirable. Desired qualifications include working knowledge of the following analytical techniques: ICP-MS, IC, TOC, light scatter (dynamic, static), and Raman spectroscopy. Familiarity with the following techniques are also desired but not required: XPS, XRD, GC-MS, NMR, SEM, and AFM. Candidates with previous experience in separation processes and hands-on skills in material synthesis techniques and characterization are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a strong academic record and excellent English communication skills. The position will involve independent and collaborative research on physico-chemical separation processes, preparation and submission of peer-reviewed manuscripts for publication and research proposal development.
