the Max-Planck Society (MPS) is announcing
a theme-specific Max-Planck-Research-Group-Leader position in Jena
(https://www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/jobs/637079-max-planck-research-group-leader),
thereby acknowledging the fundamental scientific challenges around this
topic.

This position is for 5 years initially and can be extended by 2+2 years,
thus giving a quite reliable mid-term research (and personal)
perspective. Both in terms of ambition and budget/personnel support, it
is comparable to an ERC grant (somehow between "starting" and
"consolidator").

The position is independent and has "nothing" to do with me, except for
I somehow "inserted the idea". I (as all MPI Jena directors) will not be
part of the final vote of the commission (the commission will include
members from all sections of the MPS). Yet, certainly I am looking
forward for to the potential intellectual enrichment of Jena and the
Max-Planck-Society on this topic, and would also be very open for
collaboration.
