EUROCLAY 2019

 Meeting of the European Clay Groups Association (ECGA) jointly with the 56th annual meeting of The Clay Minerals Society (CMS) and the 6thMediterranean Clay Meeting (MCM)

EUROCLAY is amongst the foremost scientific meetings in the field of clays and clay minerals, and upholds the tradition of presenting every four years, the latest cutting-edge results of this scientific field. EUROCLAY 2019 will be held at Pierre & Marie Curie University (UPMC) in the center of Paris, 1st-5th July 2019, and will be organized by the French Clay Group (GFA), under the auspices of ECGA and AIPEA. It will consist of scientific and technical sessions with both oral and poster presentations, arranged around four main themes, namely:

  • Crystallography, mineralogy and modelling
  • Environment and geological processes
  • Resources, energy, storage
  • Functionalized clays and archeology

An important place will be reserved for guest speakers who are leaders in their respective fields. As part of the program, several workshops will take place before the conference. The 56th annual meeting of The Clay Minerals Society (CMS) and the 6th Mediterranean Clay Meeting (MCM), will be hosted at the same dates and on the same site, with obvious coordination between the programs. Conferences, oral and poster sessions, workshops, business meetings, coffee breaks, ..., will be held in the new Congress Center of the Pierre et Marie Curie University. All the sites are located a few tens of meters from each other.

UPMC, part of the Sorbonne University group, is a major actor in the international knowledge and innovation economy. The University has more than 3,750 researchers and professor-researchers in 100 laboratories and an additional 2,800 researchers working as partners from four French national research organizations: CNRS (Science), INSERM (Health and medical), IRD (Development) and INRIA (Computing and automation). UPMC has cooperation agreements with many prestigious universities worldwide. The Sorbonne University group also covers technology, economics, humanities and arts.

With an incomparable heritage of historic sites, iconic monuments and attractions, Paris is a dream destination for visitors in search of places to discover. Paris hosts some of the most visited cultural institutions in the world, including the Louvre, as well as the Musée d'Orsay with collections of art of the 19th Century, and many others Museums (Picasso, Rodin, …). The central area of Paris along the Seine River is classified as a UNESCO Heritage Site.
