We are pleased to announce that the LabEx SERENADE and the University Consortium BioHealth Computing are co-organizing the first edition of the SaferNanoDesign summer school from 12-18 June 2016 with support from the COST ACTION TD1204 MODENA initiative. The school will take place at the European Scientific Institute in Archamps Technopole (France).

We are pleased to announce that the LabEx SERENADE and the university consortium BioHealth Computing (Grenoble, Barcelona, Turin) are co-organizing the first edition of the SaferNanoDesign summer school from 12-18 June 2016 with support from theEU COST-MODENA initiative. The school will take place at the European Scientific Institute in Archamps Technopole (France), 15 minutes from Geneva.

The school will address the issue : How can industrial innovation in nanotechnologies be reconciled with the legitimate concerns of citizens regarding environmental protection and public health ?

SaferNanoDesign will familiarize early-stage researchers and postgraduate students (2nd year Master/PhD) with risk evaluation in a business context, using computational methods of modelling and simulation relevant to nanomaterials.

An intensive one-week specialist school, SaferNanoDesign will examine the analytical tools and methodologies required to rise to the challenge of the ecodesign of nanomaterial-enabled technology. The school will combine an intensive program of lecture presentations, followed up by practical sessions (experiments, computer simulation and modelling) and interdisciplinary group work using a dynamic approach, involving complex problem solving, with a case study on the next generation of monitors incorporating both Quantum-Dot LED display with silver nanowire.

Courses will be delivered by international experts from France, Scotland, the US, the Netherlands and Switzerland and representatives from industry and regulatory bodies.

The working language of the school is English.

PhD students and early-stage researchers are eligible for financial support from the COST ACTION TD1204 MODENA initiative.

Please circulate this information widely and help us to make a success of this exciting new school.
